Hey, I’m Chance Forman, serial entrepreneur and founder of Chance To Inspire.

Monday comes around and you find every excuse in the book not to work out because it just seems like too much “work”.

After all, you have to get up tomorrow and go to real work… BLAH

Life starts catching up with you and you start falling behind on your bills and responsibilities.

Turning your finances into a nightmare.

You’re not alone. Don’t worry.

It wasn’t long ago I was in a similar situation.

My daughter survived a very traumatic birth and after months in the hospital we finally made it home.

Unable to leave for work due to her situation, I became a Netflix, cookie and ice cream addict.

Telling myself every bite was easing the pain of what we were going through.

One day I’m brushing my teeth about to hop in the shower and I look at myself in the mirror and didn’t even recognize who I was looking at.

I knew my mind was clouded with the worries of fighting for Lilly’s life and the loss of businesses, friends, and toys.

I had to change my mindset and daily habits and routines. Not to get back to where I was before but to excel on to bigger and better things with more purpose and impact.

The next day I hired a mentor,  got a hair-cut for the first time in two years, shaved, started going back to the gym and making sure I took a shower everyday.

I set a challenge for myself to go to the gym 6 days a week and to read at least one book a week.

Replacing my habits of sugar and t.v. with exercise for my mind and body helped me get back to scaling my businesses and growing my passion for helping others.

Giving me mass amounts of self-awareness and new found purpose.

Since then to the day of writing this I lost 24 lbs. of fat and gained enough clarity in life to build a complete new business, both in only 83 days.

All while getting to spend all day with my family and taking care of my daughter’s needs for her disabilities.

After we got home from the hospital and couldn’t find help for Lilly’s care, I was fueling my depression thinking my family’s life and dreams had been crushed.

That was just me letting my emotions take over my mindset.

Remembering things don’t happen to us, they happen for us.

In our minds we think the world is out to get us and we can never get ahead, so we settle into conformity and convenience with both our health and our wealth.

That is so far from the truth..

In today’s time with technology we have more access than ever to get work out and diet tips to improve our health. Outlets to branding and marketing to advance and grow our wealth like never before.

You just have to be willing to do whatever it takes to shift your mindset and create new habits that will propel you forward towards a more healthy, wealthy, lifestyle.

I want to give you a few tips of the actions I took to improve my health and increase my wealth all while fighting for my daughter’s quality of life.

1. Stop procrastinating! This is everyone biggest set back. What is holding you back? Time, money, fear of being judged, ect… Forget about all that noise and go take back control of your life.

*30 day challenge to do 45 minutes of hard core, no break work outs for 30 day straight.

2. Clarity – I find clarity by taking action. By not procrastinating and working on my physical fitness, it helps clear my mind to help me get a better vision for my goals.

3. Energy – By working out I’m gaining more energy, but the real key is the fuel that we put into our bodies. Stop consuming junk and start eating healthy. This will not only fast track you fitness goals but give you more energy and clarity.

4. Strategize – Develop a plan by creating new habits and rituals that are geared towards a healthier, wealthier you! Think about what you eating, what can you do active, and what is your plan to monetize and optimize your business. *I like to talk with my inner circle and bounce ideas around before moving forward 100%.

5. Prioritize – Audit your days prior. Are you spending too much time online scrolling or watching tv or even pacing back and forth to the fridge when your not even hungry just bored. Plan your days out in advance and make sure to get the most important things done first.

6. Action – This somewhat takes us back to square one, but it is the most important. You know exactly what you need to do so stop over consuming and start implementing and testing your ideas. Call or email that important game changing contact. Get off your butt and make something happen. No one is going to make it happen for you.

To some this might seem like common sense, but the thing is that common sense is not always common practice.

The biggest mistake that most people make when trying to improve their health and increase their wealth is to compare themselves to others that are already where they want to be.

Do NOT, I repeat Do NOT do that.

The only person you need to compare yourself to is who you were yesterday and as long as you are following these 6 steps, I know for a fact that you will be a better you.

As you come to the end of this article I want you to do yourself a favor. No matter if your at work, at home in bed, or at the coffee shop drinking a latte…

Stand up, stretch, take a deep breath and say, “Today is the start of the rest of my life.”

Then, drop down and give yourself 50 push ups. If your not a push up type of person then grab the dog leash and take your pup for a minimum 30 minute brisk walk. I don’t care what it is, but stop procrastinating and start taking action.. RIGHT NOW!

Haha,This week was a little intense to say the least.

I wanted to bring back the nature look, but we were limited on time due to the sun setting a little quicker than expected. Cameras were out of focus, audio off a bit and only got to shoot one quick take.

Not to mention I dropped my phone because I didn’t realize it was in the shot, lol.

All of these could be great excuses, but that’s not what I’m about. Like I said in last weeks video, I made a commitment to put out a least one video a week no matter if I/m 100% satisfied to not.

So.. that’s what I’m doing.

This week we’re talking about ENERGY!

How to optimize your energy…

5 thing I do to improve my energy levels to get more done. Lilly has therapy 5 days a week, so that takes up a lot of our day, but I still manage to run my other businesses and create content for Chance To Inspire.

Want to know how?

  1. Sleep 8 hours a night. We all have to rest and rejuvenate not only our bodies, but out minds as well.

  2. Cut out sugars and white carbs. Get your sugar from fruit and trade in white carbs for whole grains. Make sure to get plenty of protein and greens as well.

  3. Exercise at least 4 days a week. Never go more than 3 days without doing some type of physical activity and sweating out all the toxins in your body.

  4. Meditate twice a day. I was recommended to meditate twice a day for 20 minutes a day and it has helped my clarity and energy levels tremendously. Release all that negative energy and focus on the positive.

  5.  Take a break. Once an hour get up, stretch your legs and practice taking those deep breaths we’ve been talking about. 1 to 3 minutes every hour has made a dramatic change in my energy and stamina throughout the day.

I learned all of this from my life coaching “High performance Coaching” course that I’m going through and it has already made a dramatic change in my energy throughout the day, as well as sleeping better at night.

I pay a lot of money for these  courses, but I want to share my gains knowledge with you for free. To help inspire you to live a more fulfilling life, no matter what your past or present situation is.

I’ve lost 17 lbs since I started this journey 90 days ago and I want to share everything I’m doing along the way to help you achieve all of your personal goals.

Today is both a very exciting and emotional day in the Forman house. Our beautiful daughter Lillian Bijou turns 1 year old! With the celebration of the birthday also comes the painful reminder of her birth injury.

Although this last year has been nothing like we expected, we continue to feel extremely grateful to have Lillian with us today. She has taught us so much about ourselves. We’ve lost a lot of friends, lost a lot of money, but what we have lost in material possession we make up for in the gratitude we’ve gained.

To wake up every day and witness the miracle of Lillian’s life is a blessing in and of itself. Despite everything that she’s been through, she continues to smile and show the world that she is here to make a difference!

It was hard to go back and look through all the old photos from the beginning, but it has helped to show us how far she truly has come, and offers insight as to how far she is going to continue to go!

I made a commitment to make a video a week once I started putting them out for Chance To Inspire.

Last week I wasn’t quite where I wanted to be but I knew if I kept trying to perfect everything then I might not ever get started. So I just started, instead of waiting!

In my world of taking care of a spinal cord injury, paralyzed, infant on a ventilator to breathe… Life can get pretty hectic.

Last week we started weening down on her ventilator pressure so she was working extra hard and inconsolable.

The point of that being that I wasn’t prepared for this video but I made a commitment so I did it regardless. I have a clear vision for my goals and in this video I share how I find clarity in the most tragic situation of my life.

That’s what this week is all about.. Clarity!

I share how I found clarity in a very vulnerable time of my life. I didn’t have time to prepare for the video because of my daddy duties last week, but I let you guys into a very private place of mine so we can relate on a deeper level.

I want you all to know that if I can get through these hard times then you can too. Let’s create a domino effect of inspiration by sharing this video.

How I Survived ONE YEAR Of Breast Pumping (and how you can too!)

There is no debating the immensely beneficial properties of breastmilk for a newborn. Not only is breastmilk a nutritional mecca, but it also provides immunity protection against germs and bacteria. So there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to breastfeed.

But what if you can’t nurse your baby? My daughter Lillian sustained a traumatic spinal cord injury at birth  leaving her trached and vented with a g-tube to feed, so all my hopes and dreams of getting to breastfeed my first child were crushed.

Despite the awful circumstances my family was thrown in, I was not going to let this defeat me! Even though Lils could not nurse, she could still benefit from my breastmilk. With this in mind, I embarked on my breast pumping journey.

1 year later I am finally finished with pumping, and boy does it feel amazing! I know my husband is certainly excited about it. I look back over the last year at my experience with breastfeeding and wonder how I got out alive! Through all the cracked nipples and clogged milk ducts, I learned a lot about myself. Listed below are some tips I picked up on how to survive one year of breast pumping.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

Can  I stress this point enough? Ok one more time for the girl in the back.. WATER! From the first week to the last, water played a significant role in my milk production. I know it’s easy to get caught up and skip drinking a glass of water in the morning, but I cannot emphasize this any more. DRINK WATER! It’s so easy to do, and works almost instantaneously.

INVEST WISELY

I know with a lot of things, you can get away with cutting corners. But this is not one of those things. Investing in a quality pump will make a world of difference! I personally had a Medela In style Double Pump, which honestly may have saved my marriage. Before I had the In-style I was using a single breast manual pump that would take FOREVER to achieve let down and left my arms tired and my spirit weak. One day after a huge argument (over breast pumping) my husband went to the store and got me the Medela Double Pump and I couldn’t of been more grateful. The double pump allows for more milk production in half the time. Plus, with the hands-free availability I was free to use my hands on more important things.. like scrolling social media.

STICK TO A SCHEDULE

Babies in general require a scheduled routine, and your pumping is no different! Try to schedule your pumping around times that the baby is also feeding, that way you can mimic your babies needs and your breasts can produce accordingly. During the first 3 months I was pumping every 2-3 hours on the clock, including middle of the night pumps. After 3 months I was able to cut out the night time pump but was still pumping frequently, at least 6-8 times a day. When you cut back on a pump you lose a little bit of your supply, so it is important to not cut back too soon.

DONT HESITATE TO SUPPLEMENT

If your supply starts to dwindle after you cut the night time pump out, don’t stress yourself out about it. Simply supplement what you’re not producing with formula. This doesn’t make you a bad mother, in fact it make you a really good one! You’re setting your ego or pride aside and making sure that you child’s nutritional needs are being met. After all, FED is best. It is SO important that your baby thrives in the first year, and a well balanced diet is necessary to make that happen. You also have to prioritize what is most important. Yes breastmilk is the most beneficial form of nutrition for a baby, but your sanity is also extremely important. If skipping a pump in the middle of the night means you get 1 extra hour of sleep, that is worth it’s weight in gold!

KEEP YOUT BREASTS HEALTHY

I know it’s easy to over look ourselves when taking care of a newborn, but make sure to really pay attention to you body’s own cues. Relaxing baths with epsom salt and essential oils can make a world of difference on not only your energy, but also your supply! Make sure you take daily multivitamins, as well as supplements like Fenugreek and Brewers Yeast. If you really want to spice things up, you can make a batch of “lactation cookies” made of rolled oats,  Brewer’s Yeast and flaxseed, all known to help boost milk supply! Holistic remedies help not only your supply, but also the health of your breast as well. Cracked nipples and clogged ducts are a common unpleasantry of breast pumping. One time I woke up with a 102 fever and a swollen right breast! The nurse’s at the hospital were wanting me to get on an antibiotics, but I knew there had to be a more natural approach before diving right into medications. Low and behold on Pinterest I found a remedy for clogged milk ducts.. potatoes! You should of seen the doctor’s faces when I told them I had potatoes tapped to my boob. But you know what? It worked! My fever went away and the swelling went down. In a matter of 2 days I was back to normal. And it’s only weird if it doesn’t work, right?

PUMPING ON-THE-GO!

One of the things that I found most difficult to overcome was pumping in front of other people. Even with a cover over me, the sounds of the pump always made me feel insecure. Most of the time I would hide in my room, or if I was out I would pump in the bathroom (SO GROSS). It wasn’t until one day when I was in the NICU pumping bedside when a doctor approached. I pardoned myself for pumping, which the doctor responded with “For pumping? Who cares! You’re feeding your baby.” At that moment I realized she was right. I’m literally producing my newborn baby’s milk. Pumping is  already stressful enough, I didn’t need the added anxiety of perceived judgement. From then on out I pumped on the go! In restaurants, at the park, even in Napa on a wine tour! You’d be surprised how inconspicuous you can be when pumping under the radar.

March 25 is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. To bring insight to this I was fortunate to speak with one of my good friends, Jonelle, on her experience growing up with Cerebral Palsy. First, a little background on this beautiful soul that I am blessed to call my friend.

I met Jonelle for the first time in elementary school. Even at a young age, Jonelle had a very special quality about her. She had the ability to make anybody feel welcomed. Not shy to strike up a conversation, she always greeted you with a big smile and a warm heart.

20 years later, Jonelle is still the same bright eyed girl I knew as a kid. She continues to spread love and positivity through her various social media accounts.It is very rare to find someone who is an genuine as Jonelle.

She has been an incredible friend to me this past year. After my daughter sustained a cervical spinal cord injury at birth, Jonelle has been a constant reminder to keep my head up and push through the hard times. When I was at my weakest moment, Jonelle was right there to lend support and a shoulder to cry on. I feel extremely blessed to have her in my life.

Cerebral Palsy Facts

  • 1 in 278 babies have cerebral palsy
  • It is the most common physical disability in childhood.
  • Cerebral palsy is an general term for a group of disorders.
  • Cerebral palsy is a life-long disability due to damage of the developing brain.
  • In most cases, brain injury leading to cerebral palsy occurs during pregnancy.
  • Motor disability can range from minimal to profound, depending on the individual.
  • It can range from weakness in one hand, to an almost complete lack of voluntary movement. People with significant physical disability may require 24 hour a day care.
  • Approximately 40% of people with cerebral palsy have hemiplegia.
  • Spastic hemiplegia, where one half of the body has difficulty with voluntary movement, is the most common presentation of cerebral palsy.
  • There is no known cure.

What was childhood like growing up with CP?

My childhood had struggles in it but overall I had a good childhood. I received special education services but went to a mainstream school. I had modifications to the curriculum or adaptations as needed in the classroom.

I am so thankful I had friends who saw past my disability or helped when I needed it.

I was surrounded by individuals with disabilities growing up so it was my normal. I went to a special needs camp growing up. I got to skip the lines at an amusement park when I went to camp. Or riding the “short bus”, I got curb side pickup. Those are some of the perks as I like to call it because of my disability.

Did you have to go to a lot of therapy/ Do you still?

I mostly had therapy through the school system. Occupational/Physical therapy till I was in third grade. Speech therapy till I was in 5th grade.

I had adaptive physical education in elementary school then on consult basis after that. My adaptive PE teacher got me part of Special Olympics for two years in 4th and 5th grade. It really gave me confidence that I needed.

How have you been able to stay so positive through all the struggles?

Trust me I am not always positive. I try to be but I am human. It’s usually an afterthought, being born with CP you just learn to adapt or find another way to do.

It helps me that I grew up around others with disabilities that showed me that I could of been worse.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

One of my closest friends I met because of my disability in a special needs preschool. She had spina bifida. She really taught me if you get to know the person on the inside that what really matters.

If you could share one message for someone growing up with CP or caretakers of someone with CP, what would that message be?

Any child with a disability really has so much potential if given the right tools and the right support backing them up. Never give up on them. The sky is the limit for them if the right support system is in place.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like to apply this same principle to success. Success is what YOU make of it.

Webster Dictionary defines Success as:


success (səkˈses)
noun: the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
synonyms: prosperity, affluence, wealth, riches, opulence

“the trappings of success”
a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity.

“I must make a success of my business”
synonyms: triumph, bestseller, blockbuster, sellout


For some, success means having a big house, fancy car and hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank. However, for others success simply might mean waking up surrounded  by those they love the most.

But you want to know a secret? There is no right or wrong when defining success. No one’s idea about what makes them successful ranks higher then anyone else.

Success can also change meaning throughout one’s lifetime. Take me for instance. In my early twenties my idea of being successful was graduating from college, getting a good job and making boatloads of money. I dreamed of going to graduate school and becoming a scientist who would do great things in my career.

Fast forward 6 years and my definition of success has changed just a bit. In March of 2016 I gave birth to my daughter in the most unsuccessful way possible. She became stuck in the birthing canal and after a forceful forcep delivery left her paralyzed and ventilator dependent, I was feeling pretty low about where I was in my life.

Not only was I not working, but I was spending my days and nights living in the NICU/PICU. Everyday I would wake up before the sun rose and shuffle through the morning commute to the hospital.

Looking around me, I watched as thousands of people drove their Telsa’s or Audi’s to their 6 figure jobs, all while I was car-less, job-less and hope-less.

One day as I sat bedside next to my daughter, I looked around at all the other sick babies and thought to myself- You know what? You have ALOT to be grateful for! Although the experience of becoming a first time parent was nothing what I had expected, we actually made ALOT of successful stride!

From the very beginning my daughter was defying odds and beating expectations. The doctor’s told us that they searched the medical literature and couldn’t find a single other case of an infant surviving a cervical spinal cord injury at birth.

Not only was my Lilly bug surviving, she was thriving! She successfully  went through spinal fusion surgery at 3 months old. She successfully overcame a blood clot in her liver. She successfully went through rehab, and most importantly, she successfully made it home! And that is a feat that NO ONE thought she would achieve!

So now I look at my life and I feel overwhelmed by success. Today I woke up cuddling next to my husband, took my daughter to therapy, did some laundry and cooked dinner. To some that may seem simple and mundane, but to me it’s exactly where I want to be.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed with stress from work and home life? We’ve all been there before, but what did you do to gain clarity again?

Sometimes life can get so hectic definitely when something tragic happens to really rock the boat. Trust me I know that story all too well.
After my daughters birth injury life changed for my family. All the information with her condition was overwhelming at times and we had a lot of important decisions to make daily. I went from working around the clock to living in the NICU.
With the stress of not working, closing down businesses, losing friends, and fighting for my daughters life, my mind was very dark and cloudy. It was hard to put together clear thoughts or have conversations outside of Doctor talk. When it came to the decisions of Lillian (my daughter) I knew that I had to be at the top of my game.
I would go outside and do breathing exercises as often as I was able to sneak away. This was one of the key factors to my sanity. I might not of been operating at my highest level for anything else in life but I was laser focused on making the best decisions for Lillian’s
quality of life.
The fact that Lillian is mechanically ventilated to breathe only makes me that much more grateful to be able to breathe. Talking hospital talk on the regular and learning about CO2 levels being too high or too low had me finally in tune with how important our breathing truly is.
There are so many health benefits from deep breathing and variations of breathing exercises.
To list a few…

Releases Tension
When were feeling anxious, scared or stressed it constricts our muscles causing tension. By taking 5 to 10 minutes to really concentrate on taking some nice deep breaths you give your body the appropriate amount of oxygen to release tension and ease the mind.
Releases Toxins
70% of our bodies toxins are released through breathing including co2. Taking deep breaths every so often through out the day can help keep your body toxin free.
Enhances Clarity
By practicing different breathing exercises you are oxygenating the brain to help release anxiety levels. Take purposeful breaths to help relax the body bringing clarity and insights to the mind.

Breathing Exercise

Or if you’re like most people and you want instant gratification, I’ll share my simple exercise I’ve been doing for years in highly intense situations, like my daughters birth.
I prefer to be outside so I can breathe in fresh air, but I know that opportunity is not always there for us when we need it most. Either way this is simple and has saved my life a time or two at the least.
Relax your shoulder and neck raising your chest and take 10 deep and meaningful breaths. Now the trick is all you can think about is your breathing. Every time something interrupts your thoughts you have to restart your count back at 1. The key is that you have to take the 10 deep breaths in a row thinking of only your breaths and relaxing.
Sounds to simple to be true? Stop what your doing right now and try it. You can thank me later.
